WHY IT MATTERS

You shouldn't have to trade your privacy to understand your health.

Most health apps collect your data and ask you to trust them with it. TALIA doesn't. When you track your hormone health, you're recording some of the most personal information about your life - symptoms, medication, mood, hormonal changes, intimate health.

Under UK data protection law, that information is classed as sensitive health data. In many menopause apps, you can't use the service without agreeing to it being collected and processed. Most women don't realise that's the trade-off for free functionality.

Free health apps have a business model. You just aren't told what it is.

Investigations over the past few years have shown that many health apps haven't protected that information as carefully as users might expect. Regulators and researchers have found cases where sensitive data — menstrual cycles, pregnancy intentions, mental health questionnaires — was transmitted to third-party advertising platforms without users fully realising it. Large cloud databases containing personal health data have become attractive targets for cyber attacks.

It raises an important question: when a menopause app is free, ask what it's worth to someone else.

A DIFFERENT APPROACH

Privacy isn't just a policy — it's architecture

Many apps promise privacy. But if your health data is stored in central cloud databases, it still has to be protected, secured, encrypted and managed. History has shown that even well-intentioned systems can fail.

TALIA took a different approach. Rather than building a system that collects your health data and then tries to protect it, we designed TALIA so your data never leaves your device in the first place.

The architecture is the privacy policy.

How TALIA protects your data

Everything you record in TALIA — symptoms, medications, HRT, notes and your Doctor's Report — is stored locally on your phone.

That means:

  • No TALIA servers storing your health data
  • No central database of users
  • No advertising tracking
  • No third-party data sharing

Because the data never leaves your device, we cannot see it and we cannot access it. Most apps are free because you're not the customer. You're the product. TALIA is the other kind.

No accounts. No data collection

TALIA does not require you to create an account. We do not collect or store your health records. Your menopause journey stays exactly where it belongs — on your phone.

Your backup, under your control

TALIA includes the option to enable or disable iCloud sync, so your records are automatically backed up under your own Apple account — without ever passing through ours.

When we might receive information

The only time we may receive information from you is if you choose to contact us — for example, by sending a support email. In those cases, we only receive what you choose to share: your email address and message.

Common Questions About Your Data

Is my menopause data private with TALIA?

Yes. Everything you log in TALIA - symptoms, HRT, mood, notes - stays on your iPhone. There are no accounts, no TALIA servers, and nothing is sold or shared with third parties. Because your data never leaves your device, TALIA cannot see it, access it, or share it. The privacy isn't a setting you switch on or a promise we make; it's how the app is built. We have been independently verified by Peak Privacy and we have the highest rating of Gold.

Do menopause apps sell your data?

Many free health apps are funded by the data their users generate - symptoms, cycles and other sensitive health information can be passed to third parties, often without users fully realising. Regulators have taken action against apps that did exactly that. TALIA works differently: it's paid software, not funded by your data, and because everything stays on your device, there is nothing for us to sell or share.

Does TALIA collect or store my health data?

No. TALIA doesn't require an account and doesn't collect or store your health records. What you log lives on your phone, not in a database we hold.

Can TALIA see my symptoms and HRT data?

No. Your records stay on your device, so we have no way to see or access them. The only information we ever receive is what you choose to send us — for example, your email address and message, only if you contact support.

Is my data backed up, and where does it go?

Backup is optional and under your control. You can turn iCloud sync on or off. When it's on, your records back up to your own Apple account (apple encrypted) - never passing through TALIA's systems.
